Alex YIIK plays oney

Oney gets played by Alex YIIK.

YouTube is a parody of itself now. I'm starting to get these weird, horny furry ads (for what, I don't want to find out) featuring a blushing wolf-woman thingy, probably because I used to follow Saberspark or something. So the ads get to be weird, but not us?

Im sorry. So um, maybe stick with NG.

YouTube is wearing me down, but I still need to at least use it for uploading demo reels and occasionally getting higher-paying freelance work. I can certainly limit how much time I spend trying in vain to find “entertainment” on YouTube, though, only using it as a consumer for software tutorials and maybe the occasional OneyPlays episode.

I swear NG is our only hope at this point from preventing all entertainment from being advertiser-oriented garbage like in the 1970’s and ‘80’s.

@jthrash Maybe make some art about NG and how amazing it is compared to everything else. It can be a nice coping art for you.

Simply telling other people how awesome their art is here in 5-Star reviews (they’re more like gushing about their art than “reviews” at this point) makes me happy. I want to focus more on animation rather than the immediate gratification of posting a quick doodle, so I can get a job, at least in the growing independent animation industry, and actually do something about my frustrations with companies being afraid to take risks in inherently-risky creative pursuits. Basically, try to turn the bad into the good using what I learned in art college.

@jthrash Oh. I do see your point. I draw art to show my anger and hate for capitaism and big buisness. But I am glad NG exists. I believe, despite it being rather small and unpopular, at least its still free.

I actually feel more comfortable giving money to independent artists as well as to Newgrounds or Blender than to big companies at this point. Paying $3 a month to keep Newgrounds free for others has turned out to be much more rewarding for me than whatever inflated price my family is now paying for Disney Plus and Netflix just to watch a few standout shows per year (mostly on Netflix, I don’t even remember the last time I logged onto Disney Plus).

And regardless what our solution may be, that’s the one advantage we artists have to remember we have—if we don’t like what we’re seeing on TV or in theaters, we can use our talents to actually do something about it. For example, as a Sonic fan I immensely respect people who make full fan games like Sonic and the Lost Star, or even spin-off into legally-distinct “Sonic-likes” such as Freedom Planet or Spark the Electric Jester just to prove a point that Sonic still can be great if it were made by more passionate people without SEGA’s bureaucracy. On the other hand, I just ignore game “journalists” on YouTube and especially commenters who think yelling at Sonic Team will change anything, hoping they find some healthier creative outlets of their own.

@jthrash Hell, NG supporter is cheap. For a month its just 3 bucks, which is like the same cost as a candy in a nearby corner store. For a year it is just 25 bucks, which is still kinda cheap. Also, Tom Fulp isnt a greedy, mean, out-of-touch bastard. He isnt godly, but at least he does good.

We’re all human and we all make mistakes from time to time, but there’s a huge difference between occasionally doing something bad despite having good intentions and actively being a hostile venture capitalist constantly looking for new ways to hoard wealth away from the rest of the population and your employees while quashing artistic dissent or building up politicians who will do that for you. It really shouldn’t be that hard to avoid the latter…

@jthrash I am someone who tries to not be a capitalist or a greedy person. But I am scared of turning like them.

I think you would have to make at least a million dollars before the temptation even comes, though.
