I did some research and you're actually right, the game was made by the people who made Tekken 1, not Virtua Fighter. Though technically, the first Tekken was made by former Virtua Fighter devs, so I'm still right in a way.
Tobal 2 in particular is full of goofy joke animal characters to unlock similar to Tekken's Kuma or Gon.

I grew up w/ fighting games (my big bro needed someone to play SNES & PS2 with LOL) so I have a soft spot for them, from their individual backstories & theme songs, designs, weapons & signature moves/combos. I've been into watching gameplay videos on youtube [lately] so I'll give this a look.

I absolutely suck at fighting games, and it's always been that way for me. If it wasn't for Super Smash Bros., I wouldn't have gotten the appeal of the genre at all. So thank goodness for YouTube for allowing me to at least vicariously experience what not sucking at these games must be like.
