Not gonna lie: I gave up waiting for the second episode ages ago, so I initially thought this was a joke (until I checked Wikipedia).

I'd say at this point, so many fan submissions have been released that it would be hard for the original studio to outdo somebody's favorite 'interpretation' of the material. They aren't dealing with one more-or-less unified fandom anymore, they have like a thousand "alternate universe"-fandoms - each with their own expectations of what the series "should" be.

I'm mildly surprised about how people are still talking about that ads can cause a legitimate threat. I thought at this point, everybody and their grandmother was using ad-blockers on any site they don't trust - including YouTube, "because come on..."

Indie animation made by less than a literal village's worth of people takes forever, that's just how it is. I actually prefer to follow indie productions because I am frequently too busy with my own little animation projects to properly and consistently follow the latest series, especially notorious Leviathans like the entire series of One Piece (so far...), all the good episodes of the Simpsons or the Office, etc. When I first saw the notification for Digital Circus Episode 3, my first thought was "wait, didn't I just watch the second episode recently? Oh, it was almost a year ago..." That's how busy I keep myself with my own animation projects, unable to even keep up with indie series that upload maybe one episode per year.

turning 30 you started to realize birthdays ain't that cool, when you get 60 they surely won't look any cool. Loved how just a few lines were about digital circus and mostly everything else about youtube ads lol, i gotta watch that new ep, digital circus is kinda good, monkey wrench is way better, but digital circus is cool too. Time surely flies, it felt like yesterday there was just the pilot of digital circus

Am not familiar with the Amazing Digital Circus, but a long time ago I concluded that YT is only good as a scrounging source. If I see a vid I particularly like or consider useful, I usually download it so I don't have to watch it on the site again. It's like mining metal ore: once you get it you pack it up, leave the site & go home. In the last three years it's gotten more irritating since so many YouTubers started plugging their sponsors in their own videos...often as not, I have to edit the clip _after_ downloading it so I don't have to watch the product announcement every damn time.

That's actually an interesting way to use the YouTube website. Good news is that a lot of the most notable animation pilots tend to simultaneously get released on both Newgrounds and YouTube, but there are a few shows, like The Amazing Digital Circus, Lackadaisy and Helluva Boss that insist on being YouTube-only shows. There are also animators like Rigamarole and J.C. Thornton that seemed to have briefly tried Newgrounds' Movie Portal, only to quickly give up on this site because it's so much smaller and it's probably too much work for them to try to achieve even 100+ views per video here when they regularly exceed 10,000+ views per video on YouTube. In particular, OneyPlays is probably the only channel at this that makes putting up with YouTube worth it for me, they consistently put out great mindless trash entertainment when I'm too tired after work for watching a show with an actual message or which tries to lecture me.

I'm in the opposite boat, where I seem to get more attention overall on Newgrounds while YouTube seems to randomly decide which of my videos to show to every potential viewer in the world and which to hide and bury even from my most loyal subscribers. I get anywhere between 8 views and 50,000 views depending on how generous the YT algorithm decides to be that day to small animation channels like mine run by people who only casually re-upload their NG stuff every few months. But I can understand why someone who consistently has far better luck on YouTube wouldn't want to waste too much time and energy on the much smaller NG Movie Portal audience. I personally still have to at least upload my NG stuff just so that my older relatives like my Dad or my aunts can watch my (cleaner) stuff on YouTube TV.

Thanks, yeah...I use YT that way because my purposes are different from yours. For you the platform is clearly an output channel for your creative work, a place for your work to get exposure. That's great. For me, it's mainly an educational source & sometimes entertainment. Most of what I've downloaded is how-to clips on watercolor, inking techniques, & woodwork...trad art/craft stuff. More recently I've been ripping vids on residential construction (particularly concrete pouring & carpentry) since I will need such skills in the next few years. Also, history videos because I'm a geek...have gotten quite a few of those. The videos supplement my reading. There are some terrific history-oriented Youtubers on there, but you have to know what you're looking for & be able to filter out the wheat from the chaff.

I hope the algo is more generous to you one day. We artists are all in the same boat; our work needs as much exposure as it can get!

Belated update: Following your recommendation I watched episodes 2 & 3 yesterday evening.

I liked them better than I liked the pilot but the series is still not for me. Might be because I'm a monster, though. I mean, who can tell... ;)

At least you tried. I like The Amazing Digital Circus, but it's only my second favorite indie cartoon right now, behind Zeurel's Monkey Wrench.
