Man, I love it when I buy a game or experience a good story that goes WAY beyond being just a fun little distraction and somehow restores my faith in humanity.
...Or at least the industry it came from--video games in Deltarune's case. Don't give me "realistic" graphics that will have minimum impact on my enjoyment of the game, but maximum impact on my long-suffering RTX 3060 mobile GPU. Or give me always-online DRM or unnecessary Achievements that make me feel guilty that I'm a working adult and can't really 100% games anymore unless I really want to. Certainly don't give me some bland "design by committee" sludge that tries to appeal to everyone, but truly appeals to no one.
Just give me your idea of the best story and/or game ever for you and, if I end up enjoying it, too, I'll sing its praises forever. Independent works from actually-passionate directors really is the future of entertainment.
