I was Conceived on This Day Back in 1994

Good things that happened around the time I was born: Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Donkey Kong Country. Disney's The Lion King. Macross Plus. Jennifer Aniston making adorable high-pitched noises on "Friends" (drools blissfully). And, of course, I was first brought into this world. You're welcome.

Bad things that happened around the time I was born: The "Rodney King" incident...Michael Jackson's infamous "Neverland Ranch"...also, apparently I am around the same exact age and generation as Justin Bieber.

I got to finally see "Super Nintendo World" at Universal Studios in Hollywood as my birthday gift from my family, plus a cool strategy guide for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, so I can finally at least see the end credits of that damn game without cheating and just watching a playthrough on YouTube. I even had a Mario-themed Strawberry Cream Soda while I was there, and yes, it is exactly as sugary and "'Murican" as you think it is. My digestive system is still paying for it a day later.

No new art or even WIPs this week because my Birthday seems as good a day as any to take a much-needed break before I move on to my next act. I'm definitely thinking of finally working a pilot for an original short cartoon idea I've had for a very long time, but at the same time, I'm starting to get some potential paid offers to help work on pilots for other directors, and of course I may take those if it means I'll make a little extra dough and work with other people (meaning the final result will look more professional and detailed than I could possibly do by my lonesome). We shall see.

You can BET I will try to convince Zeurel to have me as one of his animators on Monkey Wrench, I absolutely love and believe in that indie show more than anything else right now and even support it a bit each month on the Monkey Wrench Patreon! Clearly indie animation is the future for our industry while Hollywood struggles to even make the streaming model profitable and seems to have no interest in putting a swift end to the strikes, paying their disgruntled employees to live in expensive LA or Vancouver, or even getting back to work in a timely manner.

happy bday

Thanks!

yo dude i think birthday is satan thing but happy birthday. Many of my family and friends knows i don't celebrate my birthday yet they still want to give me stuff. I can't see myself doing something like going to a nintendo themed park, since my 16s my friends have been wanting to take me to hook with some hookers, get drunk, do drugs, go to moshpits and thank God i never went to any (beside getting drunk sometimes).
Also yeah dude, better stick to the paying jobs rather than the solo personal stuff that is not sure that will get you money and ting, that's right my friend, hails from brazil, God bless you

Never heard of the concept of "Birthdays" being a Satanic thing, if I'm being honest.

I got to go to a Nintendo-themed park simply because I live close by Hollywood and LA anyway and often go to that area to find some fun, and it just so happens Super Nintendo World is found in the Hollywood version of Universal Studios--the only other version of the theme park is in the Tokyo, Japan version of Universal Studios and weirdly I don't think the Orlando, Florida version has it yet. It's really more of a "Super Mario World" since I guess Mario, being the mascot of Nintendo, is the least controversial and most kid-friendly character for Nintendo and Universal to focus on (plus they just worked together recently on The Super Mario Bros. Movie). If you've ever played the end of Kirby games (especially Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards), you might be shocked at how dark that otherwise-sugary-sweet series can get, for instance. Personally, it blew my mind and was WAY more fun than if I had went to Disneyland for the first time since I was a kid, I think I got more than my share of Disney's parks back when I was younger (and more likely to enjoy kiddie stuff) and tickets weren't as stupidly-expensive as they are now.

As for paying jobs, it's more about working with a team and not having to make the compromises to animation quality that I normally have to do when working alone. But I have a good-paying day job now and I don't need the extra money from working on other people's ideas THAT badly--if anything, working for others a bit is how I plan to make a bit of extra money to hopefully hire my own small animation team to turn MY ideas into a reality soon.

Either way, I should probably consider taking breaks from doing other people's stuff and do my own solo projects from time to time just to make sure I still have the "passion" for creative arts and still find it fun--more like a video game than a job, basically.

@jthrash yo my friend, i have read all the bible, in the whole bible 3 times it talks about birthday, 2 birthdays and 1 verse about the birthday cake. The first birthday is the pharaoh in genesis by which he ordered to kill a guy, the second one is herodes' birthday by which a girl ordered him to behead john baptist and he did. Only two birthdays and both had death. The verse about the birthday cake:
¹⁸ The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
Jeremiah 7:18
it's a very ancient practice that has pagan origins and God doesn't liked it. People get around you and a cake clapping and singing a stupid song. For some reason in lavey satanism the most important day is the birthday (i think it has to do with being lover of yourself). The birthday is a day where you want to feel special and get gifts and such, it's not hard to find someone that get sad when people don't care about them and their birthday
