Bubsy could totally work as a character if he was supposed to be written like an overconfident has-been jock who peaked in high school and always gets his comeuppance at the end, similar to Ed, Edd n' Eddy or the high school reunion episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Basically, sort of an intentionally-unlikeable parody of Sonic the Hedgehog. But no, the devs seriously expected us to unironically tolerate and enjoy this character...
