It took playing the Metroid Dread demo (and later the full game) for me to finally “get” the appeal of Metroidvanias! Maybe Nintendo should put out more demos for anything that’s not Mario or Zelda to help sales.
Also I’ll get around to trying Half-Life eventually, quit tryin’ to remind me all the time!
Dread is so good! Nintendo needs to start getting better at proactively advertising their non main series games. Maybe Metroid wining a few Awards will convince them to start doing that. HL2 also is excellent, I shan't stop!
Nuns can’t marry because they are effectively “married” to Jesus Christ or something. And preying mantis wives eat the heads off their husbands after having sex.
…Oh no! She’s going to eat Jesus’s head off!!
Well, it's a good thing he comes again.
Design isn’t Dead! You’re just focusing on your Aunt using Comic Sans in a Minions meme instead of all the great stuff that takes a lot more time and patience to make!
Aaah i've missed you! Welcome back to my comments section!
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about Encanto, especially its "safe-even-by-Disney-standards," plastic-looking art style that I think is starting to look stiff compared to Sony Animation's stuff, but Dolores is definitely one of the prettiest and most appealing character designs in the entire movie. The entire premise and world of the movie is insanely creative, too, even if I could tell certain aspects were inspired by My Hero Academia or Disney's own movies.
I disagree. This movie is incredibly full of life. Its obviously "Disney-looking" and more of the same which some people might be sick of, but i wouldn't call it plastic or stiff. the range of motion in the characters and how far they push certain expressions was amazing. The hair texture and overall visual variety in the characters was really nice to see. I do think sony has pushed style a lot farther than Disney has from what i've seen.
I get how you could say its my hero inspired, but thats mainly just because of the "everyone has power except for main character" but even then i dont think you can really say its my hero -like because my hero tackles many different themes. My hero has a lot about personal growth, society as a whole and what we focus on, passing the torch to the next generation , etc, while Encanto is much more contained talking about family, and the pressures of both not being as special and being the one thats special
I could probably talk about while i love this movie for ages though
I'm sure my Mom would appreciate you essentially drawing her oldest cat here (technically he's male, but he's neutered and says "Screw you!" to gender norms as a result).
cats good
I unfortunately never got around to playing either PowerStone game when I used to have a Dreamcast. So I would date someone like this just to get a chance to try PowerStone 2 on OG hardware!
Honestly that's valid.
This is a fantastic and unique design. Clearly you do your research before drawing something.
Thanks. Actually this was straight from the brain. I could definitely benefit from researching a bit more though.
For some reason, I like how comically large that chair is (or how small she is).
Being a gobbo she's pretty short- I never got a specific height from the client but, they gave it this thumbs up! So, 3.5ft tall? Roughly? Maybe.
This would be my OCs if they saw what they looked like just a month ago. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing that, at the rate I seem to improve, even something I made two or three posts ago looks cringe to me now. I personally like the original versions of your OCs too, honestly, there’s an almost “Neverhood-esque” charm to the old sketches. Maybe we artists are just too critical and perfectionist about old work that we made when we obviously knew less—the new designs are obviously superior, but the old ones look pretty great for what they are.
Thanks! I'm glad you like both versions lol. I don't hate them or anything it's just interesting to see where it came from originally. It's neat seeing how much of their designs are still within the characters. like...they have been drawn nicer yes but a lot of the design ideas were there from the start. also I've seen your stuff definitely improve over time. We just gotta keep going and look back on what we make from time to time.
