This is particularly amusing as an American because Republicans in the US are currently using the issue of “sex/LGBTQA+” content in our already-tame children’s cartoons (compared to the rest of the world) as a political wedge issue and to freak out parents. They did similar fear-mongering with SpongeBob SquarePants back in the early 2000’s. Meanwhile the cartoons from their childhood who they feel were made by “REAL” men, like Bugs Bunny and Woody Woodpecker here, had them literally dress up and act like not just women, but BEAUTIFUL queens just as another way to mess with their adversary’s heads, and no one batted an eye about it back then. I tell ya, politicians need to keep their grubby hands off of enjoyable stuff like cartoons!

Okay that shader is impressive. You even imitated how slow “Color Fill” tools were in early digital art programs compared to how instantaneous they are now, usually taking a few frames to “fill up”!

The most wonderful, wonderful, wonderful time of the year!

MAN, this takes me back to the Dreamcast and PS2-era vibes! Thanks for giving me what I didn’t even know I wanted, stranger!

YOSH

Reminds me of how Toadstool/Peach looks in the Super Mario Bros Super Show, which I always preferred over her current, canonical design. I even had a bit of a crush on SMBSS Peach when I was a kid, too, which of course is just a long way to say I think this design is very cute!

Incredible! Also a reminder that I should probably start doing low-poly art (that generally takes less time than the high-poly, PBR-textured equivalent with far more complex rigs) just to get more practice with 3D in general! It also helps that the PSX was my first console and thus this style is super-nostalgic for me!

It’s great that One Piece is one of the more mainstream anime/manga franchises because it also has some of the most wild and interesting character designs and concepts. Meanwhile, most mainstream shows from both Western and Eastern animation industries are still under the assumption that the more popular something is, the more generic and overdone the character designs and personalities have to be to avoid “offending” anyone.

Maybe I should start watching One Piece again…

Video critic, eh?

“The entire YouTube critic community and I spend great deals of cash hate-watching and rewatching Disney remakes, make videos that are really more about our opinions on capitalism as a whole, and then wonder why these remakes make more money than the originals and Disney keeps making them, even though at this point we give these movies more money and free advertising than Facebook Moms who find Elsa ‘empowering’ at this point.”

Seems like your commissioner is one lucky dude!
