It just genuinely impresses me that a goofy, short Sr. Pelo cartoon I still regularly watch to get into the "a-Spooky Month" mood has turned into this hugely ambitious MCU-like saga of deception and intrigue. I particularly like this episode to adding some much-needed emotional depth to Skid and Pump, and specifically how they learned to be more sympathetic to their Mom (in Skid's case) and their caretakers (in Pump's case), it was very sweet. Also pretty solidly represents the conflicting feelings I've always had with The Church irl (at least in the United States)--on one hand, it is truly run by people who are either massive hypocrites who don't practice what they preach or rigid zealots who can't reconcile their often-antiquated traditions with the reality of living in a pluralistic society--but like Skid and Pump demonstrated by ultimately learning the consequences of their actions and to be kinder to their long-suffering caretakers, it can't be ALL bad if you manage to find the nuggets of genuine truth amongst all the hypocrisy...?

I absolutely adored the cameos, at least the ones I recognized and I managed to catch. The HoboMen cracked me up, and Zach Hadel/PsychicPebbles is probably the Newgrounds cameo equivalent of Stan Lee in the early MCU or Alfred Hitchcock in his own movies where I should probably just expect him to appear in any relatively big-budget indie animation celebrating Newgrounds and promoted by the site itself, but I still feel really smart anyway when I manage to catch his cameo, especially in this one! I also noticed a Tangy Mustard mask, that controversial Egoraptor guy, and of course references to previous "Spooky Month" episodes, but I'm sure I missed quite a bit more simply because I still don't know a ton about this site pre-Friday Night Funkin', before the 2020s.

Special thanks goes to whoever made that SICK illustration during the credits, so detailed and it incorporates the best elements of OG Doom's box art and the surprisingly-metal intro to The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy! Tell me where to find it and download it!!

Overall, truly this was a-Spook Before Easter!

I relate to Barney's ongoing struggle to read the room and try to figure out when laughing is appropriate and when to show genuine concern for his friend is more appropriate.

An actual Potatoman in a Potatoman cartoon! Progress! You cannot stop it no matter how hard you try, fascists--unless you live in Pakistan, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Sydan, Afghanistan :(

Nice.

Not even Sonic can keep up with himself!

More mid-poly if we're being honest--possibly even early PS3-quality!

Still, you do 3D, too?? You're getting too powerful, you must be stopped!

This was actually kind of cute until the last 2 or so seconds, then I was horrified and my faith in the human race managed to take even deeper of a nosedive...

This was fun to watch, excellent job!

The facial expressions in this one are fantastic!

Extremely fun and expressive animation despite (or because of?) the low-res N64 aesthetic! I absolutely love that ghost kid and his...unique voice. It was a bit slow in the beginning--did you have to include the downtime often found when watching unedited Longplays of games on YouTube--but it was worth it for the goofiness that happened at the end!

It was, it was like, it was like finding a piece of chocolate...ON THE GROUND!!
